Now more than ever IS the time to ensure your organizational skills are honed in. With so many of us still working from home, making sure that we’re as productive as possible is so important!

Let’s get into it —

Tip 1: Snag yourself a journal

The power of writing is real. Deeper memory retention. Mental releases. There’s power in documenting your thoughts, writing things down so you can go back to something tangible.

My daily practice is simple… at the start of every day I like to do a brain dump of what I have going on for the day. All of the things I need to get done. The tasks from the day before that I didn’t finish, and a gratitude note.

At the day’s end, I do it again. One final brain dump before I call it a night. I like to do this because now, I’m no longer relying on memory. It’s written down, released from my brain. That way I can finally unwind from the day’s shenanigans.

Now, my favorite journal is the Tropical Peach Bookbound Journal from Southworth.

I don’t know about you, but I’m super selective when it comes to finding journals I’ll use on a daily basis. One of my fave features about my Southworth journal are the perforated sheets to neatly tear away my lists and notes.

If you’re interested in snagging my fave journal, you can find them on Amazon.

Tip 2: invest in a quality planner

Yes, friend… I know you can use your phone too. But hear me out. Again, there’s power in writing things out.

The amount of times I’ve put things on my phone calendar, but didn’t set a notification or reminder, and still missed my appointment or obligation is laughable! Writing things down in my planner does a few things for me:

  1. The fact that I take time to write out plans, obligations, and due dates (and don’t rely on my phone) helps ensure that I actually make that task happen!
  2. It helps me visualize things differently
  3. I’m able to go back (or forward) to see the things going on in past or futures months easier than it would be to do a phone, laptop, or desktop.

Overall, investing in a quality journal and planner helps me major time with productivity. Why? because ultimately, I’m more organized! I’m able to gain mental clarity by writing things down, organize my thoughts, and plan my days (with both business and personal) obligations.

And you guessed it… my fave planner also comes from Southworth, too! I’ve provided you the locations and links of where you can snag your very own!

Tip 3: set aside time everyday to organize

Listen, don’t let this stress you out. All you need is 30 minutes a day. Whether you’re in your decluttering phase or you’re organizing, a powerful 30 minutes of intentionality is so beneficial to increasing your productivity.

Imagine dedicating 30 minutes every single day to declutter, create home organizing systems, or add in some structure to your day to day life. How much more organized and productive could your days be overtime? How much more work could you complete in a day? Or better yet, what old hobbies could you pick back up?

30 minutes. One specific tasks (declutter or organize)… on a daily basis is your next step to being more productive

Tip 4: create a beautifully organized work space

This is a no brainer, right? Our work environment has to be a place where we can thrive in to ensure we’re getting our work done in a comfortable and timely manner. So, if you’re currently working in a disorganized space, I can only imagine that your productivity is not where you want it to be, right?

Let’s chat about a few things you can do right away to create a workspace that is not only organized, but also pretty! I’ve found that when spaces look nice, it’s easier to maintain the systems.

  1. Paper Management: you know as well as I do that paper management can be and feel daunting, especially if there are no systems established to organize and maintain it. Pro tip: create two distinct filing systems- 1 to file away paperwork that is not needed all the time (like in a filing cabinet), and 2 a filing system that is easily accessible and small. Like a desktop filing system. Why? Well, you want to have an organized system that allows you to quickly grab what you need, but also has some order.
  2. Clear your desktop: I like to keep my desktops clear with only the things I’m using daily. Clutter builds fast, and if I want to stay productive, I need to limit my desk distractions. At any given time, you will only see a few things on my desk (tea, diffuser, notepad, and a paper filing system) All other items are neatly organized on shelves that are still quickly accessible.
  3. Accessorize: Pretty, organized spaces always inspire me to keep my systems up! If you’re anything like me, this will help you too! Accessorize your work environment with plants, thematic office decor, paintings, etc. to enhance your office mood!
